Seaford special election held Monday

Officials with the city of Seaford are notifying the public, of a special election held Monday to propose borrowing of a loan for a waste water treatment plant.
According to reports, the city plans to borrow an amount of money, not to exceed $1,658,300, with a repayment period of twenty years at an interest rate of two percent, to fund the installation and operation of a renewable energy generating system that will offset a portion of the energy consumption at the city’s waste water treatment plant, also know as the Project. Upon completion of the Project, $500,000 of the outstanding loan principal amount will reportedly be forgiven.
Election officials say, every owner of property, whether an individual, partnership or corporation, shall have one vote and every person who is a bona fide resident of the City, but who is not an owner of property within the corporate limits of the City, shall have one vote. All votes may be cast either in person or by proxy.
The special election will be held in the Council Chambers at the Seaford City Hall located on High Street. The polls will be open from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
