Salisbury Airport preparing for airline merge

More people traveling by air could soon be making their way through the Salisbury Wicomico Airport now that a major merger is closer to being finalized.
Back in 2013, American and US Airways merged but it has taken some time for the change to reach the consumer. Airport manager Bob Bryant says in Salisbury you can already see the re branding of US Airways just by looking at the ticket counters.
He says merging the airlines opens up new markets for airline passengers who live on the Delmarva peninsula and are not only looking to access destinations that US Airways once served.
Bryant tells 47 ABC, “These new added destinations that American Airlines serves and also opens up the world to gain access to the Delmarva peninsula.”
The change will become officially effective on October 17th. Bryant says for anyone who has bought tickets before the 17th with US airways, those tickets will still be honored.
