Public weighs in on Wico. Co. BOE

The Wicomico County Council held the first of four public meetings Thursday night about whether Board of Education officials should be appointed or voted in.

According to officials around 40 people showed up for the meeting. There are three options on the table, one to keep things the way they are  meaning appointed. The second option is to elect board of ed officials. The last would be a hybrid five elected and two appointed.

For anything to change the options themselves would have to be voted on,but they would have to be on the election ballot officials say.

The county has tried getting the options on the ballot twice in the past, but it was never approved by the state legislature.

County officials say they hope there will be more of a turnout for the September 22nd meeting at Delmar elementary school.
