Police: Millsboro woman killed in fatal crash

Delaware State Police are investigating after a two-vehicle collision killed a Millsboro woman on Saturday morning.

Police say Jennifer Morris, 39, was declared dead on the scene around 5:29 a.m. Saturday. Morris was apparently a passenger in a car driven by 44-year-old Kenneth Damron when his car collided with another vehicle driven by 27-year-old Delmar man Jessie Saunders near Millsboro Highway, east of Godwin School Road.

According to initial reports, Damron was traveling westbound on Millsboro Highway when he was negotiating a moderate left curve approaching Godwin School Road. Police say that’s when Saunders was headed eastbound on Millsboro Highway, negotiating the same curve but to the right.

Troopers say for unknown reasons, Damron’s car crossed the center line of the road and entered into the eastbound lane right into the path of Saunders’ car. We’re told it appears Saunders attempted to avoid the oncoming vehicle; however, the cars collided.

Damron’s car reportedly continued to travel until it rolled onto its passenger side and came to rest on its right side against a tree. Saunders continued in an easterly direction until it came to a stop.

Damron, who was properly restrained, was transported by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit to Beebe Hospital, where he was stabilized and later flown to the Christiana Hospital.

Morris, also properly restrained, reportedly sustained massive injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Saunders was apparently not properly restrained at the time of the crash and had sustained minor scratches and non-life threatening injuries. Police say he refused medical treatment at the scene.

We’re told alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in this collision at this time.

This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
