“Operation Spiritus” nets 13 in Kent Co., three more sought

Members of the Delaware State Police have announced a multi-agency investigation culminated in the arrest and indictment of 13 suspects, while three others are still wanted.

“Operatioin Spiritus” focused on the illegal drug trafficking organization. Police say Kevin McDonald, 41, of Magnolia, headed a massive drug trafficking organization, and has been charged with directing a significant cocaine network in the central and southern Kent County area.

Investigators organization was responsible for the distribution of over 1,000 grams of cocaine in the last six months.

Police say on September 9, 2015, 12 search warrants were issued at different residences in Magnolia, Felton, Frederica, Harrington, Greenwood, and Milford, resulting in the arrest and indictment of those 13 individuals, who face more than 100 criminal charges.

On September 9, 2015, search warrants were executed by the tactical teams of the Delaware State Police, Dover Police Department, Milford Police Department, Smyrna Police Department, FBI, and State of Delaware Division of Probation and Parole, at 12 separate residences located in Magnolia, Felton, Frederica, Harrington, Greenwood, and Milford.

Police say as a result of the execution of the search warrants the following items were seized (weights are approximated):

1,089.64 grams of cocaine, 21.36 grams of heroin, 22.3 grams of marijuana, two .40 caliber handguns, a .410 caliber handgun, three 9 mm handguns, one 12 gauge shotgun, one .223 caliber assault rifle, as well as assorted ammunition, $42,973.00 in suspected drug proceeds, two motor vehicles and packaging material including thousands of wax bags associated with the sale of heroin.

Police say Kevin McDonald was indicted in the Kent County Superior Court and was charged with a total of 12 felony crimes including Racketeering, Drug Dealing, Aggravated Possession of Cocaine, and numerous other drug offenses.  

He is currently incarcerated at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Institution in lieu of $41,750.00 cash bail.

The following suspects were reportedly arrested also indicted in the Kent County Superior Court, according to police.  Authorities say Kevin A. McDonald Jr., 22 of Felton, Amanda Pollard, 23 of Magnolia, Gary D. Williams, 25 of Frederica, Taquen G. Owens, 22 of Greenwood, and James M. Smith, 30 of Harrington, were charged with various felony crimes including Racketeering, drug, and weapons offenses and remanded to the Delaware Department of Corrections where they are being held without bond.

 The following were arrested during the execution of the search warrants and charged with various drug and weapons offenses: Arthur D. Stratton, 39 of Magnolia, Teuntay C. Drummond, 22, Alivia Mosley, 22, Kashyra Cannon, 25, Kashyra Cannon, 25, Jocquon Johnson, 22, Deanna Boyd, 25 and Rhymean Floyd, 35, all of Milford.

Police say they have obtained indictments for the following individuals in connection with this investigation and are currently wanted: Abdul White, 30, Ashley Gonzales, 25, of Kent Co., and Frank Lovett, 28, of Greenwood.

White and Gonzalez are also wanted by the Milford in connection to the homicide of John Harmon on August 8, 2015.

The operation involved multiple subjects conducted by State Police troopers, the Drug Enforcement Administration, Dover Police, and Milford Police, as well as surrounding law enforcement agencies.
