Officials decide against Naylor Mill Forest development

Officials in Salisbury say the Naylor Mill Forest will not be leveled to make way for new softball fields.

The land, which belongs to the city of Salisbury, will not be renovated to make way for new softball fields as an extension of the Henry S. Parker Athletic Complex, after no motion was brought forth to continue deliberation at a public hearing Monday night.

Since no motion was brought forward, the proposal effectively died.

Many local residents and activists raised concerns that destroying the forest would have put the local water source in jeopardy.
