People across the nation took part in thanking law enforcement Saturday as part of National Thank a Police Officer Day.

The purpose , is exactly what it sounds like to go out and thank an officer for their service by doing an act as big as sending in a gift basket, or as a little as just approaching an officer and thanking them.
