More discussions take place surrounding downtown Milford revitalization

Thursday night in Milford, officials held their second community input meeting this week about how to revitalize downtown.

The first was for residents and the second was for architects.

A few architects proposed ideas like a riverwalk, a new ampitheatre, pop-up retail store villages and even a splash pad in the heart of downtown where water shoots out of the ground.

We caught up with Mayor Bryan Shupe who says tells us he believes continued development on the Mispillion River is key.

“Now moving forward, I think we can take that river and we can build on it even more. Build additional restaurants on the river, additional recreational opportunities, and give more of that greatness we’ve already done and downtown create more of it and get people to realize what Milford has to offer.”

This past spring, the Delaware Economic Development Office approved $24,000 in grant money for Milford’s downtown efforts. City Council then approved just over $3,000 to the plan and $20,000 for implementing it.
