Milton man charged in drunken rampage in Rehoboth

The Delaware State police say, they have charged a Milton many with a number of charges after causing two separate accidents within miles from each other.

According to reports, at about 9:10 PM Tuesday, police were called to the intersection of Coastal Highway and Rehoboth Avenue for a car crash. Apparently, 30-year-old Alan Wingo of Milton was driving south on Coastal Highway, in a Toyota Camry, when he failed to stop at a red light at the intersection of Rehoboth Avenue. He  was then reportedly hit on the passenger side by a 41-year-old Rehoboth Beach man driving north in a Honda Civic. Investigators say, the impact caused the Camry to overturn on its roof, and Wingo was taken to Beebe Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries.

Police cited Wingo for driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of marijuana, driving suspended/revoked, and other traffic related offenses.

While this crash was being investigated, authorities determined that Wingo had also been involved in a hit and run crash minutes before. According to reports, that accident was on Country Club Road in the area of Winners Circle. Apparently, he had side-swiped a Lexus SUV, driven by a 63-year-old Rehoboth man, traveling in the opposite direction. Police charged him with an additional charge of leaving the scene of a property damage collision.

Officials say, none of the other operators were injured in either of the collisions.

Traffic was reportedly impacted on Coastal Highway for nearly two hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
