Local woman supports medical marijuana in honor of brother

Town leaders in Federalsburg are writing a letter of support for a businessman’s application to grow medical marijuana in town. For them, it’s a clear economic win. However, one local woman says it’s also a healthcare must.

Theresa Taylor tells 47 ABC her brother passed away from cancer. She says during his treatments, doctor’s recommended medical marijuana. However, because of state regulations he couldn’t get it.

She believes if he had access to the medicine , he could have avoided pain and suffering and the outcome of his cancer may have been different.

Taylor continues, “He couldn’t get it for health reasons. Plus, for the state they didn’t want it at the time. If it’s going to be used for medical reasons I agree with it.”

Taylor says she’s in full support of the application to grow medical marijuana in Federalsburg. Right now, twenty- three states and Washington D.C. have medical cannabis laws. That number includes Maryland and Delaware.
