Laurel man facing drug charges after traffic stop

A Laurel man was arrested on Thursday, after he was apparently caught with over 200 bags of heroin.
According to Maryland State Police, Richard Smith, 29, of Laurel, was pulled over for speeding the Federalsburg area. Police say they found around 260 bags of what they strongly believe is heroin, along with one ounce of suspected marijuana and a digital scale.
Reports say Smith was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to distribute heroin, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance for CDS, possession of heroin, possession of marijuana, and possession of CDS paraphernalia.
He was released after posting $50,000 bond.
