Initial hearing held for man shot by Delaware police officer

(AP) – A court commissioner has refused to dismiss gun charges against a man shot by a Delaware police officer, although questions remain about whether officers saw the man holding a weapon.

Twenty-one-year-old Terrance Fletcher appeared in court Friday on charges of carrying a concealed deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a person prohibited.
    
Fletcher was shot in the thigh Aug. 28 by a Dover police officer after authorities responded to a tip about a man with a gun.
    
Fletcher’s attorney argued that the charges should be dismissed because there is no evidence that police saw Fletcher with a gun, although officers recovered a revolver at the scene.
    
A detective testified that Fletcher admitted having a gun and that Fletcher said he tossed it away while being chased by police.
