Homicide under investigation near Accomac

Law Enforcement in Accomack County say they are investigating, after a man was found dead inside his home.

The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office says on Wednesday evening around 7:50 PM, they received reports of a person shot at a home on on Cooper Lane, near Accomac. Once on scene, Deputies say they found 71-year-old Fred Shrieves, deceased inside of his home.

Investigators say they also believe that a tan four-door 1999 Chevrolet Lumina, with Virginia plates VHS2722, was stolen from the house.

The Sheriff’s Office says they are looking at this as a homicide investigation, and it is on-going at this time. An autopsy for Shrieves is expected to be done on Thursday, at the Medical Examiner’s Office in Norfolk.
