Fall tourism growing revenue potential

The summer tourism season is just about over but according to tourism experts in Virginia, there’s potential for revenue growth in the fall season as well.
Kerry Allison, executive director of the Eastern Shore of Virginia, says this is because of the different staple events scheduled for the fall like the annual oyster roasts on the Eastern Shore.
According to Allison, ticket sales for the eleven scheduled roasts are up by about 25% so far. Admittedly, she says the fall tourism season generally comes in second to the summer and explains groups of families travel to the eastern shore of Virginia during the summer, but it’s a different crowd for the fall.
“People who have just sent their kids off to college and they’re like whew…let’s come take a vacation and all of the kids are back in school, so we have young single people or married couples without children taking a long weekend.” She says.
