Elections director discusses National Voter Registration Day

Registration is vital to the election process. It’s required to cast a vote and National Voter registration Day is Tuesday.
For those who think deadlines are too far away to register, think again. The city of Salisbury will be having a municipal election on November 3rd. The deadline to register is October 13th. That’s just about three weeks away.
Anthony Gutierrez, the Wicomico County Board of Elections director says, “Now is the perfect time to check if you’re registered. If you want to get registered it’s a great time for us to process those applications. It solves a lot of problems on Election Day. It’s unfortunate when people go and wait in a long line. You get to the front and they say I’m sorry we don’t have you or sorry your information is out dated.”
Officials with the Wicomico County Board of Elections say seven to ten days after you submit an application to register to vote, you should receive a voter registration card in the mail for confirmation.
If you don’t receive one, contact your local board of elections office.
