DSU PhD student explains benefits of OSCAR Building

47 ABC got an exclusive tour of the OSCAR building at Delaware State University on Monday. However for the rest of the public, they’ll be able to step inside during the campus’ dedication on Friday.
Governor Jack Markell and DSU President Harry L. Williams will be among several administrators and faculty members during the ribbon cutting.
The OSCAR building doesn’t have classrooms. It’s dedicated to Optics Research. According to Harry Burton, a PhD student 47 ABC spoke with, the building provides more experimental space, easier access to department advisors, and is a more cohesive environment promoting collaborative work.
Burton says, “It definitely feels more engaging. I can actually speak to my friends. We’re not all displaced around the entire building. It’s a much better atmosphere than what I was used to back in the old building.”
The ribbon cutting at DSU will take place at 5 p.m. on Friday.
