Dover Man Arrested After Shots Fired

A Dover man is behind bars after a domestic dispute turned violent.
State police say around 4:45PM Sunday, a 911 call was placed stating that a man was armed with a gun shooting off rounds at a home off of Kitts Hummock Road.
According to officials, John Kemp and his wife had been involved in a verbal and physical altercation before Kemp brought a rifle into the house.
He then threatened to kill his wife and their 7-year-old daughter.
After that he left the home again and fired off several rounds before his wife and daughter fled to a neighbor’s house for safety.
The firearm, which turned out to be an MK-99 semi-automatic rifle contained a fully loaded magazine and police say there was another round found in Kemp’s pocket.
Troopers say Kemp would not obey their orders to surrender when they attempted to verbally negotiate.
So officers were forced to use a Taser on him before he could be taken into custody.
Kemp was evaluated and treated on the scene by EMS and then transported by troopers back to Troop 3 where he was charged with two counts of Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition by a Person Prohibited, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, two counts of Aggravated Menacing, Resisting Arrest, two counts of Terroristic Threatening, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Offensive Touching. He was arraigned at JP7 and committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $44,250.00 secured bond along with a no contact order with his wife and daughter.
