DE First lady Carla Markell recognizes Fund For Women Day

Governor Jack Markell and his wife, First Lady Carla Markell, spoke in front of the Delaware Community Foundation, Fund for Women, about grants that essentially benefit women and children’s programs in the state.

They recognize September 30th as “Fund for Women Day”. As of this year, Fund for Women has given over $2 million in grants benefiting programs in the state.
Governor Markell released the following statement:

“I am so proud of Carla’s involvement with the Delaware Fund for Women and was honored to join her today as she was presented with the First Founders Award,” said Governor Markell. “She is one of many working to support the mission of the Fund for Women and positively impact the lives of women and girls across our state. By proclaiming today as Fund for Women day in Delaware, we are recognizing the tremendous fundraising and advocacy efforts achieved through this charitable organization and encouraging others to learn about this philanthropic venture and how they may support its goals.”

The mission of Fund for Women has also been expanded to include advocacy work on behalf of women and girls in the community. Fund for Women Day will be celebrated by an event hosted in each county throughout the first state.
