Chincoteague Bridge testing expected to slow traffic on Tuesday

Drawbridge testing in Chincoteague could delay traffic next week.

Virginia Department of Transportation says on Tuesday, September 22, from 10:00 AM until 3:00 PM, crews will be performing test lifts on the Chincoteague Bridge. During the tests, traffic will be stopped in both directions, for about 30 minutes at a time.

After each traffic stop, crews will reopen the bridge to traffic to allow the queue to clear. Officials say maritime traffic will not be affected.
