Charter forces Indian River to first home loss

The Indian River boys soccer team lost their first home game of the season Saturday afternoon, falling 3-1 to Charter.

Wilbert Gomez got the Indians off to a fast start, cutting middle and getting his foot on a ball that found the back of the net. IR had the lead less than 15 minutes into the game. Not long after, Charter would even things up. Kevin Erikson would put away a beautiful header off a cross by Roy Lee.

With the game tied, the Force would again pressure the Indians, Brian Shannon would find a ball rolling around the box and poke it over the keeper’s head. Just before the half, Erikson would strike once again, recording his second score of the game and pushing Charter’s lead to 3-1.

Indian River host Salesianum (2-0-1) on Tuesday night.
