Cape powers past slow start to down CR

For nearly 27 minutes, the Caesar Rodney field hockey team would hold state power Cape Henlopen scoreless in hopes of an upset, but with 3:13 remaining in the first half Tess Bernheimer would blast a shot off a corner pass from Erin Coverdale, as Cape would roll to a 4-0 win.
Bernheimer would add another goal less than a minute later, getting a gift right in front of the net and putting it away. Coverdale and Katie Frederick would also score goals to keep the Vikings perfect. CR goalie Caitlin Harris played a fantastic game, and led the game in saves.
Cape travels to Dover to take on an undefeated Senators squad on Tuesday at 7 p.m. while CR travels to Sussex Central on Thursday at 4 p.m.
