Cape boys soccer earns third consecutive shutout

The Cape Henlopen Boys soccer team recorded their third consecutive shutout, defeating Sussex Academy 5-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior captain Drew Mulcahy got the scoring started just seven minutes, burying a cross from Uly Slagle to give Cape the early lead. Six minutes later, Steve Matalavage would make it 2-0 Vikings with a beautiful cut and finish from a pass from Jack Ashby. Zach Gelof would score the final goal of the half for the Vikings in the 33rd minute, to give Cape a 3-0 lead at the break.
Shortly after the second half began, Gelof would record his second goal of the game to push Cape to a 4-0 lead. Then with just four minutes remaining on the clock Ashby would score his first goal of the night, bringing the total to 5. Dominic Santo would record 16 saves for Sussex Academy in the loss.
Cape looks to continue their undefeated streak when they host Polytech on Thursday, while Sussex Academy (0-3) travels to Delmar.
