Cambridge pulls off comeback over Kent County

The Vikings of Cambridge South Dorchester came back from a 14-point halftime deficit to defeat the Kent County Trojans 33-27 in overtime, on the Trojans homecoming.

Stevie Curran and Nate Lowe traded touchdown runs early in the first quarter. Curran hit Marcquan Green for a 59-yard touchdown, and scored his second rushing touchdown of the game with time expiring in the second quarter to give Kent County a 20-6 lead going into the half.

The second half was a different story for both teams. CSD’s defense began to get stops, and their offense couldnt be stopped. Back to back drives yielded in touchdown runs by Lowe, and running back Tre Lake. With a 20-19 lead, Curran would toss a timely touchdown to extend the Trojans lead to 27-19 with just under 3 minutes remaining. A game-tying drive by Lowe and the first play of overtime, a 10-yard touchdown by Lake would give CSD their first lead of the game, needing a defensive stop. Kent put the ball in the hands of their man Green, who was stopped at the one yard line to end the game.

CSD (3-1) host Nandua next weekend, while Kent County travels to winless Easton.
