Cambridge Police K9s to receive ballistic vests

Three Police K9s in Cambridge, will be better protected, thanks to a national campaign.

The Cambridge Police Department announced on Wednesday that K9s Carl, Cairo, and Roman will be getting ballistic vests, thanks to a nationwide Groupon event that raised over $335,000.

The campaign, called Occasions, hosted by Groupon Grassroots, ran from February 15 through March 5, where $10 donations were taken to get police K9s bullet and stab proof vests.

The vests were provided by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., in memory of K9 Rocco, a K9 with the Pittsburg Police Department who died in the line of duty in January 2014.
