Bicyclist hit by truck mirror on Easton Parkway

An elderly Easton bicyclist was injured on Tuesday morning, after a mirror on a truck, reportedly hit him.
Easton Police say around 11:20 AM, Officer responded to reports of a crash involving a bicyclist on Easton Parkway, near Port Street. Once on scene, they say they learned that 76-year-old Michael Sheedy, of Easton, was riding in the shoulder of the roadway, when a 2013 Ford F-150 attempted to pass.
Police say as the driver, 80-year-old James Lempke, of Trappe, tried to pass, his truck crossed the white line into the shoulder. According to the report, the passenger side mirror hit Sheedy, causing him to fall.
Police say Sheedy was wearing a helmet, but was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma for abrasions and a possible head injury. He was reportedly treated, and later permitted to return home.
Lempke, who was not injured, was reportedly found at fault for the crash, and was given a traffic citation for failure to yield right of way. Police say traffic was reduced to a single lane for about 45 minutes, during their investigation.
