Batze, Butler Dominate As Pocomoke Rolls Bennett

The Pocomoke field hockey team picked up a convincing home win Monday night when they topped Bennett 10-0. The win improves the Warriors to 3-2, while the loss drops the Clippers to 1-4.

Pocomoke wasted little time before going to work, as Lexi Butler would score less than 2 minutes into the game, after taking a pass from Makenzie Mitchell. Then 5 minutes later, the Warriors would stretch their lead to 2-0 after Butler would get her second score, this time receiving the set up from Peyton Becker. Becker would then add a goal of her own, before Butler would complete her hat trick. Mitchell then added a goal before Batze would get red hot. The senior would score 4 straight goals as Pocomoke would open up a 9-0 lead. Kasey Lee would add the final goal of the game as Pocomoke would hold on for a 10-0 win.

Bennett showed the programs true class under the direction of head coach Kim Fitzgerald, as she and the rest of her team, wore “#PuseyStrong” shirts during their warm ups to honor the late field hockey head coach Susan Pusey at Pocomoke, who passed away this summer.

Pocomoke returns to work Wednesday when they travel to Kent Island, while Bennett travels to Kent Island a week from Tuesday.
