WiHi Indians Football Preview

The Wicomico High School football team is coming off a 5-5 season in which they missed out on the playoffs. The Tribe will be looking to improve upon that record this year as they gear up for the upcoming season.
Initially it looks like the Indians will have some big shoes to fill with the absence of graduated seniors Nelson Brown and Trevell Jones. Brown was one of the most dominate running backs in the conference for the previous couple seasons, and was the featured back in a run heavy offense last year. Jones on the other hand was the play maker for a defense that showed sparks at times. Jones led the team in forced turnovers and recorded well over 100 tackles on the year.
This season WiHi will look to replace those two by featuring a few returning players, while also adding a big transfer into the mix. The Tribe return a few key members in the back field including Raekwon McCarter & Jordan Brittingham, who looks to be the new featured back in the offense. WiHi will also have the ability to air the ball down the field with the addition of Barry Gaines Jr, a first team all-conference performer a year ago at Bennett.
WiHi opens their season September 4th against Cambridge South Dorchester.
