Wicomico County explain importance of libraries

Some may feel libraries are becoming obsolete. However, folks at the Wicomico County Public Library say “no way.”

They shared a cartoon on their Facebook page. It explained why libraries are still needed. Officials say sometimes people just need a reminder.

People can go to libraries to access the internet to apply for a job,  use it as an after school outlet to keep kids out of trouble, or as a method for families to save money by borrowing books and DVD’s instead of buying them. Executive Director Andrea Berstler says the opportunities are endless.

She continues, “We have the education center where we’re doing adult GED classes. Wor-Wic is doing them and we’re doing the hosting. We have the computer center where we do computer training and labs. I could go on all day like this.”

Berstler also says as long as there is education, there will always be a need for libraries.
