UPDATE: Troopers investigate serious ATV crash

Delaware State Police say a Millville man is in critical condition after a serious all-terrain vehicle (ATV) crash that happened just south of Dover on Saturday afternoon.
Police say around 4:08 p.m., 21-year-old Dalton Weiss was traveling northbound through a grassy yard near South Old Mill Road. The ATV reportedly struck a small log, causing it to rise in the air on its rear tires. Police say the passenger, a 13-year-old Lewes boy, apparently jumped off.
We’re told the ATV continued to travel in a north direction on South Old Mill Road and when Weiss stood up on the ATV pegs to try and obtain control, the vehicle struck a tree and Weiss was ejected.
According to police reports, the ATV came to a stop after impacting the tree and then flipped over on its left side.
Weiss was airlifted by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit to Christiana Hospital with serious injuries and is listed in critical condition.
Police say charges pending for the operator are Driving Under the Influence and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
The 13-year-old passenger did not have any life threatening injuries and was transported by EMS to Kent General Hospital for further evaluation.
This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police.
