UPDATE: Second suspect in custody after gunfire breaks out in Dagsboro

State Police say they have charged two men, and after an apparent shootout in Dagsboro.

Delaware State Police say on Thursday around 1:30 PM, Troopers responded to East Diamond Drive, after numerous calls were made to 911 about a fight in progress. While en route, Trooper say they learned that gunshots had been fired, and once on scene, found that several people had already fled the area in vehicles.

According to witnesses, 42-year-old William Drummond, and 19-year-old Shaquone Smith, both of Dagsboro, were the two people involved in the exchange of gunfire. Police say as they looked into it further, they found that Drummond and some other people, were involved in an altercation over illegal drug sales near his house.

When Drummond heard the shot, he apparently went and got a .22 caliber revolver from the front steps of his house, and started firing a Smith, who then apparently fired back. Police say that neither of the men, nor any bystanders, were hit by gunfire.

Smith apparently fled in a green vehicle shortly after, and was wanted and considered armed an dangerous. Until Friday when, Smith turned himself into Troop 4, where he was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and reckless endangering first degree. He is now being held at Sussex Correctional Institution on $22,000 secured bond.

Drummond was apparently arrested, and charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and reckless endangering first degree. Drummond has a previous felony conviction, from 2007. He is being held at Sussex Correctional Institution on a $18,500 bond.
