UPDATE: Former director of veterans group back in Wicomico Co. court

The former director of the Veterans Support Center of America PAWS program, was back in the Wicomico County Circuit Court on Friday morning, for a criminal motions hearing.
During the hearing, the state came to an agreement with Scaletta’s defense attorney. Digital accessories such as a computer, seized from Scaletta’s home during a warranted search, and any previous statements made by Scaletta to law enforcement, will not be used as evidence during his trial.
Scaletta is facing three felony counts of theft, and two charges of using a false government ID. The stolen valor act makes it a crime for a person to pretend to be a decorated military veteran, in order to receive property, money, or other tangible benefits.
Scaletta reportedly claims to be a holder of the Combat Infantryman Badge, a Bronze Medal Star, and Purple Heart. According to the director of Veterans Support Centers of America Jerry Black, Scaletta doesn’t hold any of those awards.
However, he reportedly claimed to have those awards when he asked for sponsorships for the PAWS assistance dog training program for veterans. Scaletta has a criminal jury trial set for September 29.
