UPDATE: DSP identify men involved in fatal crash

Delaware State Police have identified the men involved in a fatal motorcycle crash on DuPont Parkway early Saturday evening.

According to investigators, 33-year-old Warwick man Nicholas Russo was operating a 2007 Honda CBR1000 motorcycle northbound just north of Marl Pit Road with a group of other motorcycles around 7:40 p.m. Police say as the traffic crossed over Drawyer Creek, several motorcycles began splitting cars that were traveling in the same direction by passing in between them. We’re told Russo attempted to pass a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado on the narrow left shoulder, which caused the left side of the truck to collide with the right side of the motorcycle, ejecting Russo from the motorcycle.

Russo was struck a guardrail and was pronounced dead at the scene by New Castle County Paramedics.

The driver of the Chevrolet Colorado, 31-year-old Newark man Michael Stradley was  reportedly properly restrained and able to bring his car to a controlled stop on the right shoulder.  Police say he was uninjured.

Troopers say the the investigation into the crash is still under investigation; however, we’re told charges are not expected to be filed.
