Two arrested on gun charges during Cambridge traffic stop

A traffic stop in Cambridge, reportedly led to the arrest of two people on handgun charges.

Cambridge Police say on Wednesday around 5:25 AM, an Officer stopped a vehicle at the intersection of Sunburst Highway and Crusader Road for a traffic violation. During the stop, the driver, 20-year-old David Jenkins, of Randallstown, Maryland, went into the glove box to grab the registration, when the Officer apparently noticed a handgun in the glove box. Police say it was a loaded 9mm Smith & Wesson.

Both Jenkins and his passenger, 18-year-old Sequoia Seleia, of Cambridge, were arrested. Jenkins was charged with handgun in vehicle, illegal possession regulated firearm, possession of firearm/minor, illegal possession of ammo, driving on suspended out of state license.

Police say there was also an active bench warrant out for Jenkins for failing to appear in court in November 2014. He was later ordered to be held at the Dorchester County Detention Center on a $40,000 bond.

Seleia, who apparently had marijuana on her during her arrest, was also charged with the handgun offenses, along with possession of marijuana less than ten grams. She is also being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center on a $20,000 bond.
