Tractors of yesteryear steal the spotlight at the DSF

Although there have been a few tractor pulls at the Delaware State Fair, Saturday they let the tractors of yesteryear take the show at the Antique Tractor Pull.

According to tractor pull officials, in order to be considered an antique tractor the model must have been made before 1976.
The crew responsible for checking the tractors in told 47 ABC that the oldest one in competition was a 1936 John Deere A-model tractor driven by Betty Babcock.

The competition is put on by the organization Young Farmers, a group for young adults who share a passion for agriculture.
The Antique tractor pull is used as a fundraiser for the group and members all help out to put it on.

“We get all different types of people (helping out). We have people on the pullback tractor, we’ll have people, driving the tractor for the packer or the diamond scrape,” said 27-year-old Travis Voshell, who’s been with the organization for almost 10 years. “We’re just out here having fun and trying to promote Young Farmers and the state of Delaware.”
