Shaving peak power in Berlin

Town leaders in Berlin are asking all residents to help save energy with their Peak Shaving program.
The two day event, which started Monday, asks residents to conserve energy use between the peak period of 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., when customers are using the greatest amount of electricity.
According to town officials “peak shaving” also helps customers save money by cutting back on the amount of wholesale power purchased during that time.
“A small adjustment on their part can generate some significant energy savings to the town and to themselves,” said Berlin town manager Laura Allen.
