Salisbury Police turn to parents for help solving homicide

Rakim "Roc" Russell

Salisbury Police are reaching out to parents for help in solving a weekend homicide. Just after midnight, on Sunday August 2, 17-year-old Rakim Russell (pictured below) was shot and killed. Investigators say Russell, better known as “Roc,” was at a party at the Americas Best Value Inn in North Salisbury Saturday night. They say just after midnight, someone fired multiple gunshots into a group of people in the parking lot. One of those bullets struck Russell and the incident was later ruled a homicide.

The weekend party reportedly had about 200 juveniles and young adults. Police are urging parents whose children attended the party to speak to their children about the incident and contact Police with any information. As an added incentive, Crime Solvers has raised the reward being offered in this case and will pay $2,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information should call Crime Solvers at 410-548-1776 or the Salisbury Police Department at 410-548-3165.
