Residents boycott Pocomoke’s National Night Out

Tuesday night 47 ABC was able to speak with Pocomoke City resident Michelle Lucas, who boycotted the city’s National Night Out and went to Crisfield’s instead.

Lucas had announced that she and other residents planned to boycott the event at Monday night’s city hall meeting in Pocomoke.

Lucas said her and others boycotted the event because of the controversial firing over a month ago of former Police Chief Kelvin Sewell.

“I’m not in Pocomoke because they fired the chief, I think they fired him unfairly and I’m just boycotting. I can’t support a community that isn’t supporting the community,” Lucas said.

Although Lucas was only with a small group,  she said other residents boycotted Pocmoke’s night out and went to cities such as Princess Anne and Westover.

Despite the boycott, 47 ABC found out Pocomoke City still had a fairly good turnout for their national night out.
