Police: 17-year-old killed, information sought

Detectives of the Salisbury Police Criminal Investigation Division are searching for a suspect or suspects in connection to a fatal overnight shooting.

According to Salisbury Police, the victim has been identified as 17-year-old Fruitland teenager Rakim Lamont Russell. Police say the shooting happened in the parking lot of the America’s Best Value Inn located at 2625 N. Salisbury Boulevard early Sunday morning.

We’re told the victim was shot and transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.

Very few details are available at this point in the investigation, and police say no suspect descriptions are available at this time.
