New vaccine requirements reminder for students in Worcester Co.

It’s just about time to go back to school and for some that means getting vaccinated.
Officials say new school immunization requirements took effect last fall statewide in Maryland. The new requirements require that all kindergarten and first grade students have two varicella vaccinations, and students in seventh and eighth grade have one Tdap, and one meningococcal vaccination.
Officials with the Worcester County Health Department say students who do not have the required vaccinations can be excluded from school.
In addition to the required vaccines for school, seventh and eighth graders are also recommended to receive the HPV vaccine.
If your child needs any of these shots, Officials say it’s important to call your doctor to schedule an appointment. The health department is also offering the Varicella, Tdap, HPV, and Menactra vaccines for free on certain dates.
In Pocomoke, the dates are August 27th and Septemeber 10 at 400-Walnut Street. In Snow Hilll, the dates are August 28th and September 11th at 6040 Public Landing Road. and in Berlin, the dates Are August 25th and September 15th at 9730 Healthway Drive.
