Millsboro woman charged in daycare death enters plea

The woman accused of killing a 10-month-old baby was in court Tuesday in Georgetown.
An official with the Delaware Department of Justice says a public defender entered a not guilty plea on behalf of Valorie Handy.
Handy apparently didn’t speak during the hearing.
She faces one count of first degree Murder by abuse or neglect. The charges stems from an incident back in January when Handy reportedly tried to wake the baby boy up from a nap at her home daycare on Layton-Davis Road and found him unresponsive.
Officials say she ran Handy’s Little Disciples and was the only one on duty at the time of the death.
After an autopsy, his death was ruled a homicide, but the cause of death was not released.
Handy was arrested is being held on bond.
