Milford man accused of writing checks from closed account

William H. Booze, 68, of Milford, DE

A Milford man has been arrested, after he apparently wrote someone a check from a closed account.

The Milford Police Department says on July 20, William Booze wrote a check for $1,500 to a 27-year-old as a form of repayment. Sixty eight-year-old Booze had apparently accepted that same amount from the victim, as a business start-up fee, that was to be paid back shortly.

The check that Booze wrote in return, was apparently written from a closed account.

He was arrested on August 13, and charged with issuing a bad check over $1,500, and no account at time of issuing check. Booze is being held on a $1,500 bond at the Sussex Correctional Institution.

Police say they don’t believe that this is the first time that Booze has done this. They are asking anyone who may have had a similar incident with Booze, to contact Pfc. Timothy Maloney of the Milford Police Department at 302-422-8081.
