MD Tax-Free Week begins Sunday

Good news for Maryland shoppers looking for some back-to-school attire.

Maryland Tax-Free Week kicks off on Sunday, August 9th and runs through August 15th.

That means any single, qualifying item of clothing and footwear $100 or less is exempt from the state’s 6% sales tax. That applies regardless of how many items you buy.

Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot says this tax free week benefits both retailers, due of a boost in revenue, and families, because the savings can really add up.
