MD Rep. Van Hollen calls for national redistricting

Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen is calling for national reform when it comes to how the country’s congressional districts are drawn.
Friday, Van Hollen wrote a letter to House Speaker John Boehner and Governor Larry Hogan, supporting reforms to end drawing congressional districts to favor one party or the other.
Governor Hogan formed a state commission to study such reforms this past Thursday.
Van Hollen says he’s open to reviewing the Governor’s proposal and is hoping Hogan will urge Boehener to allow a vote on federal legislation to end gerrymandering.
Van Hollen is a democrat running for the soon-to-be empty seat of Barbara Mikulski who is retiring.
