Man accused in Lincoln kidnapping back in court

Rondaiges Harper

Friday was another court day for Rodaiges Harper.

Harper was set to spend thirty years in prison after being convicted for being a part of the kidnapping of an elderly Lincoln woman back in 2013. But earlier this month, that conviction was reversed and he was released from prison. On Monday, he was indicted by a grand jury on two new charges. His first court appearance for those charges, happened Friday.

Harper is charged with first degree false imprisonment and second degree conspiracy and he pleaded not guilty to those new charges.

“[Friday] morning, he came in optimistic that he’d be able to go out the same door that he came in and that’s exactly what he did,” says Harper’s attorney, John Brady, “since he’s already served over two years and three months the judge felt with appropriate surety and pre-trial monitoring that he was not a risk to the community.”

Harper was released $10,000 unsecured bond. We’re told he has a case review hearing in October.
