UMES is heading back to class. Wednesday was freshman move in day and the campus was filled with parents and students. Athletic teams, the student government, as well as people in the community all pitched in to help out.

President of UMES, Dr. Juliette Bell says preparations have been taking place all year to ensure that they were ready for today. Dr. Bell says there was definitely excitement in the air and the school is ready for a brand new experience.

Dr. Bell tells 47 ABC, “We have a lot of great things coming up this year, probably the thing we’re most excited about, we’ll be opening our new engineering and aviation sciences building later this year.”

The new building which had its groundbreaking ceremony 2 years ago is expected to be completed by the end of this year and will be open for students next spring. Another exciting addition to the campus? A new TV station.
