Fatal fire investigation

Millville Fire Company is investigating a fatal fire that happened early Sunday morning in Ocean View, Del.

Firefighters said they arrived on the scene shortly after 2 a.m. to Woodland Ave. for reports of a house on fire.

According to fire officials, one body was recovered from the home. However, neighbors said no one was supposed to be living there.

“I’ve never saw signs of anybody being around it for a long time,” said Richard Albright, who lives down the street from the property.

Albright, who purchased his nearby summer home seven years ago, said someone lived in the house when he first moved to the neighborhood, however, he says the property went up for sale two years ago as a vacant lot.

Albright also told 47 ABC the house looked like it had been deteriorating over the years.

“It looked like it was when we first moved in and there was always yard sales in the front, but the house itself was always kind of over grown and looks kind of the way it does now before the fire,” Albright said.

Neighbors believe someone had been squatting in the house on and off for the past few years , but fire officials couldn’t to confirm that.
