Dorchester Co. house fire ruled accidental

An early Saturday morning house fire, in Dorchester County, has been ruled as accidental. The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says the flames started around 5:15 AM in the living room of the one story Hooper’s Island Road home.

A neighbor apparently reported the blaze, to which 25 firefighters from Hooper’s Island, Taylor’s Island, Lake and Straits, Madison, Church Creek, and Rescue responded. It reportedly took them around a half hour to control the fire.

Investigators have since ruled the blaze as accidental, and caused by something electrical. There were no injuries reported. Damages are estimated to total $75,000. The American Red Cross is apparently assisting the occupant.
