Cohen disputes plea agreement

Former Washington, D.C. and Maryland insurance business man Jeffrey Brian Cohen is now trying to withdraw his plea agreement with federal prosecutors.

Cohen was indicted back in December 2014 for plotting to kill Delaware officials and numerous counts of fraud.

According to court documents, Cohen filed the motion to withdraw the agreement earlier this month and now the government has responded with a motion in opposition.

According to a copy of Cohen’s plea agreement, Cohen pleaded guilty to some of the charges, but not the obstruction of justice charge that alleges Cohen plotted to kill elected officials.

Officials say both sides will appear in court on Sept. 8.  If Cohen’s motion is denied sentencing will follow immediately.
