Cause of fire at vacant home in Delmar, under investigation

The cause of a fire that damaged a vacant home in Delmar, is under investigation.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office says the a neighbor of the Highland Avenue home, discovered the blaze around 12:40 AM on Saturday. Twenty firefighters from Delmar, Hebron, and Salisbury’s Station 2 responded, and apparently had the flames under control in about a half hour.
There were no injuries reported, and damages are estimated at $5,000. Investigators say at this time where the flames started, and just what caused the blaze, remain under investigation.
The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office and the Delmar Police Department are both apparently assisting in the investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Salisbury Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office at 410-713-3780.
