Cambridge man accused of assaulting Police Officer

A Cambridge man is facing charges, after Police say he was being disorderly in public, and assaulted a Police Officer.

On Tuesday morning around 9:00 AM, Cambridge Police say they responded to the Social Service building on Race Street, for reports of a disorderly person. Once on scene, Police say they found 41-year-old James Dorsey, who was being very uncooperative, and refusing to leave the establishment. As Officers attempted to take Dorsey into custody, they say he started to resist, and charged one of the officers.

He apparently continued to assault both officers in an attempt to get away. Police say they were eventually able to get Dorsey in handcuffs, before charging him with two counts of assault second degree on a Police Officer, two counts of assault second degree, resisting arrest, fail to obey and lawful order, disturbing the public peace, disturbing to public peace in a disorderly manner, and trespassing on private property.

Dorsey is now being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
